Space for Creative Exploration

A portrait of the artist as a young typist, c. 1977.

“You can’t have failure around exploration.”

A friend of mine said that during a guided meditation session a year or two ago, and the words hit me with such force, I wrote them down.

If those aren’t words to live by, as well as create by, I don’t know what are.

I have long made my living from being a maker of things, a shepherd of various creative endeavors by other people and on behalf of organizations, causes, and companies. Books. Art. Learning. Social-service missions. Activism. More about that and about me can be found in my bio.

This space is not about those kinds of work. It’s about the process of creative exploration more than its products.

Because processes are hard to capture, here that takes the form of sharing explorations-of-progress and some select completed written and visual work across genres—creative non-fiction essays and blog posts, photography, and recent music blog playlists.

Read, look, listen, enjoy, share, create.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
